Mo Ibrahim African Governance Index to be launched today

The Mo Ibrahim Foundation will today Monday 4th launch, in multiple cities, its fourth Index of African Governance – Africa's leading assessment of governance, designed to inform and empower its citizens and governments, a statement issued by the foundation said Sunday.

The Ibrahim Index of African Governance is a comprehensive assessment of governance quality in Africa.

Funded and led by an African institution, the Ibrahim Index has been designed to be Africa's leading assessment of governance, that is, a tool for citizens, public authorities and partners to assess progress, stimulate constructive debate on governance and establish a framework for assessing governance in Africa that is focused on government delivery.

The Ibrahim Index is compiled by a research team of experts based at the Foundation, supported by a Technical Committee which includes representatives from Afrobarometer, the American University in Cairo, Brookings Institution, the Centre for Democratic Development, CODESRIA, and the Institute for Research in Empirical Political Economy and an Academic Advisory Council of 25 African experts.

Today's launching will be held in Cairo, Egypt; Accra, Ghana; Nairobi, Kenya; Dakar, Senegal; and Johannesburg, South Africa.
