‘Ministers coming to National Assembly is an obligation’

Wednesday, March 28, 2018

The National Assembly Member for Wuli West, Hon. Sidia S. Jatta has argued that it is an obligation for Cabinet ministers to come to the National Assembly, stating it’s in the constitution.

He further argued that ministers are obliged to come to parliament particularly during the adjournment debate so as to put heads together for sound policies.

Hon. Jatta was speaking during the adjournment debate of the First Ordinary Session of 2018 Legislative Year in Banjul.

The Wuli West lawmaker further vowed not to speak again in any adjournment debate without minister (s) being present.

He said he would only talk about an area whose minister is present.

“I will never and ever speak again during adjournment debates if there is no minister, and if there is a minister, I will talk only on matters relating to his or her portfolio. I will not give responsibilities to other ministers, it is unfair,” he noted.
