Africell-sponsored League tournament after a 4-3 post-match penalty shootout
win over Hannover on Saturday.
The game’s regulation time ended in a goalless stalemate, forcing it into a post-match penalty shootout.
The final, which was played at the Serrekunda East Mini-Stadium attracted hundreds of spectators and was described as the clash of the Titans between the “Manjakos” against the “Jolas”. The champions Milan Rossenneri is a Manjako team while Hannover FC is a Jola team.
Hannover dominated both part of the encounter as they created lot of goal scoring chances but couldn’t convert any of them into goals, allowing the encounter to go for penalty shootout.
As winners, Milan Rossenneri were awarded a giant trophy and cash prize of D60, 000, while the runners-up Hannover FC pocketed a consolation prize of D40, 000.
Milan Rossenneri’s head coach Sang Mendy said he was happy for the victory, saying they deserved to win the tournament because they have been training hard for it.
But Hannover head coach Lamin Colley said he was disappointed, noting that they have played hard for the trophy but lost it.
