Men should be aware of ‘fake love’

Wednesday, October 31, 2018

Ghandi in one of his famous quotes said that “where there is love there is life”. Thus, love is an important aspect in the success of any relationships. The recent divorce saga involving a young student at the University of The Gambia and one Ahmat Ceesay is a lesson for all would-be partners. Men have to be careful when making a decision especially one that involves marriage. In today’s ever-changing society men should be aware of ‘fake love.’ Marriage should be seen as an affair that last for eternity but not on contract. Yes, divorce is bound to occur along the way but that is not the wish in any relationships. People should also know that there are ups and downs in any relationships and that is natural.

All humans have an intense desire to be loved and nurtured. Given the importance of the need to be loved, it isn’t surprising that most of us believe that a significant determinant of our happiness is whether we feel loved and cared for.

The Cadi in his judgment order the young girl to pay her husband, Sheikh Ahmat Ceesay, all the monies he spent on her within 24 hours.

According to court sources, Sheikh Ahmat Ceesay gave Fatou  Jawo D50,000 for her mother, a car, D29,000 to buy a laptop, a goat and a sheep for her relatives when her husband was courting her. Subsequently, she only had to pay him by filing a divorce to terminate the marriage. Is her love for the man fake or genuine?
