Men bound over to keep the peace

Mara Jobe and Pap Sarr were on 26 April 2016, bound over to keep the peace for three months in default to serve six months in prison by Magistrate Bojang of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

This followed their plea of guilt on two counts of affray and assault causing actual bodily harm.

Pap Sarr, who pleaded guilty on a third count of assault causing actual bodily harm, was cautioned and discharged.

The bill of indictment presented before the court by CPL 1542 Mendy stated that the convicts jointly took part in a fight in a public place on 20 April 2016, at City Pub at Dippakunda, in the Kanifing Municipality.

Prosecutors further alleged that Mara Jobe on the same day and place, unlawfully assaulted Pap Sarr by stabbing him with a broken bottle, causing him actual bodily harm.

It was also alleged that Pap Sarr on the same day and place, unlawfully assaulted Mara Jobe by stabbing him with a broken bottle, causing him actual bodily harm.

Their actions, according to prosecutors, amounted to committing an offence.
