Sport Committee has commended the most awaited tournament fondly called
‘Nawetan’ for the first time on Saturday.
The tournament aims among other things to foster a better and robust relationship within the people of Tawto and its environs. The competition is bankrolled by the Tawto Youth in the Diaspora in collaboration with the Tawto Youth Association.
Hundreds of spectators stormed the Tawto Football Ground to witness the kick-off between Blocks Corner and AS Roma.
The nail biting show both teams creating numerous goal scoring chances but couldn’t capitalise on most of them thus the game ending 1-nil in favour of Blocks Corner FC. Pa Loum scored the only goal of the encounter for Blocks Corner FC from a superb free kick in the second half.
Blocks Corner FC head coach, Baboucarr Jammeh said he had no doubt in his men, adding that he is well prepared for the tournament.
Defeated AS Roma coach, Alkali Jarboe lamented the poor performance of his team. He attributed the defeat to late preparation and the short notice by the sport committee.
However, he promised to better prepare for his next encounter.
On Monday August 27, Eleven Spartan lost to Santa Yalla FC by two goals to nil.
