Management Development Institute (MDI),
Wednesday started their annual inter-departmental football tournament between
its eight departments.
The tournament targets to bring together all the departments to strengthen the bond among students. The tournament also seek to help and build a team for the school to participate in the GFF National League.
The departments participating in the tournament include: Student Union, Management, Admin, the joint Human Resource (HR), International Relations (IR), Gender, Peace and Conflict department, ICT, Banking and Finance, Accountancy and ICM.
Sports Minister, Ebrima Touray said the tournament is a culture in the school and was organised to help students to interact and socialise. “This is a very big school and one of the ways for students to know each other is through sports,” he said.
He revealed that all the departments will be given equal training opportunity without disturbing classes. “We always sit as a committee and schedule favourable time for the matches to play without disturbing classes.”
Mr. Touray noted that with the support of their administration, fee and cash prizes are attached to the tournament, saying winners, runners-up, best player, leading goal scorer and most discipline team will be given prizes.
The opening two encounters of the tournament saw Management defeated Student Union 2-1, while in the second game; ICT also beat Banking and Finance by the same scoreline in all games played at the MDI football field in Kanifing.
