Prolific striker Mbasey Darboe alias Messi made a stunning second half strike, which fired Interior to the 2016-2017 Women domestic league season opener Super Cup title, after deadlock in the first half.

The police outfit beat Abuko United 1-0 in a well-attended final game, played at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium on Sunday.

Abuko United dominated the entire game, and came very close to opening the scores in the 34th minute of the game through Fatou Jobe, but her brilliant shot was denied by Interior’s net-minder Aminata Darboe.

Interior, who failed to establish themselves well in the game, also came close to opening the scores through prolific striker Mbasey Darboe in the 36th minute of the game, but her shot was blocked by Mariama Malack, and thus the first half ended goalless.

Upon resumption of the game, Abuko United maintained their composure and continued to mount pressure on Interior, but failed to utilize their limited goal-scoring opportunities, before striker Mbasey Darboe alias Messi netted the winner in the 76th minute of the game.

As champions, Interior went home with a trophy and cash prize of D20, 000, whilst Abuko United received D10, 000 as runners up.
