Friday, May 18, 2018

The newly elected mayor of Kanifing Municipality Council (KMC), Talib Ahmed Bensouda, has called on Muslims within the municipality to use this holy month of Ramadan to strengthen bonds of brotherly love and neighbourliness.

In a Ramadan message delivered on Wednesday as the mayor-elect of The Gambia’s most populous municipality, Mayor Bensounda wished all residents of KMC a happy Ramadan with peace and blessings.

“As the holy month of Ramadan starts, I wish you four weeks of blessing and enlightenment. As you fast and offer prayers to Allah, may you find your peace and happiness.”

He called on staff of his council to use the holy month of Ramadan by contributing to their communities as well as neighbours and to the under privileged.

“To my Muslim brothers and sisters, including our fellow citizens and neighbours of other faiths in our prayers and celebrations, let us strengthen the bonds of brotherly love and neighbourliness within the Kanifing Municipality. I pray that in this 2018, the crescent-shaped moon brighten all our paths toward enlightenment and may Allah bless you with peace and grace.”

It would be recalled that Bensouda emerged the winner of the just concluded mayoral elections in the Kanifing Municipality after a keenly heated campaign.
