Marlborough Brandt Group renovates classroom block

As part of their efforts towards creating good learning environment for students in Gunjur and its satellite areas, the Marlborough Brandt Group (MBG) in the United Kingdom (UK) recently embarked on renovation of a five-class room block, at Gunjur Lower Basic School. The five-class room block was built and funded by Marlborough Brandt (MBG) in 1985.

In an interview with our reporter, the President of Marlborough Brandt Group, Doctor Nick, said the five classroom block was inaugurated in September 15th 1985, by the then Minister of Education, Louis Njie. He noted that the relationship between the people of Gunjur was founded in 1982, and since then Gunjur have benefited a lot from the people of Marlborough.

He stated that Marlborough would continue to render more support to the people of Gunjur whenever the need arises.

Also speaking to our reporter, the Secretary-General of Gunjur Link Committee (GLC), Mankamang Touray said since the founding of the link between Gunjur and Marlborough in the UK back in 1982, Gunjur have benefited a lot from the link. The benefits, he stated, include an orchard for the village, women horticultural garden, and university education for residents of Gunjur.

He commended Marlborough Brandt Group (MBG) for the facelift, noting that the relationship between the two communities will grow from strength to strength.

For his part, the Alkalo of Gunjur, Alhagie Sulayman Touray, applauded Marlborough Group (MBG) for renovating the classroom, which he noted, would create good learning environment for the students.

He urged MBG to continue rendering more aid to the people of Gunjur, adding that the people of Gunjur are really grateful to the support rendered to them.
