Man Remanded for Attempting Rape

One Baba Njie was on 6th January 2009 remanded in custody by the Brikama Magistrates' Court presided over by Magistrate Pa Harry for attempted rape.

According to the particulars of the offence on 30th November 2008 at TanjiVillage, the accused attempted to rape a 5-year-old girl. The alleged offence further revealed that the accused gave D5.00 to the girl to go and buy bread for him and upon return of the girl the Accused took her to his house where he asked her to lie down and attempted to have carnal knowledge with her.

When the charge sheet was read to him in the local languages he denied the charge.

The case was adjourned to 16th January 2009.
