Man in Court for Breaking Police Drinking Bucket

A 23-year old boy, Baiya Drammeh, was on 12th January 2009 arraigned before Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates' Court charged with common assault and wilful damage to property.

On count one, the particulars of the offence revealed that on 6th January 2009 at Brikama town, the accused Baiya Drammeh unlawfully assaulted one Mrs Awa Mendy by giving her a blow on the forehead and thereby causing her actual bodily harm.

While on count two, the alleged offence revealed that on the same day, month and year, at the Brikama Police Station, the accused wilfully and unlawfully broke the drinking bucket valued at D100 being the property of Brikama Police Station.

When the charge sheet was read to him in the language he claimed to understand, he pleaded not guilty.

Meanwhile he was remanded in custody until the next adjourned date.
