Man imprisoned for theft

Magistrate Jobarteh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court recently convicted and sentenced one Ebrima Jawara, to a jail term of 18 months in prison with hard labour.

The convict, Ebrima Jawara, who was found liable for stealing from a motor vehicle, was also ordered to pay a compensation of D55,200, in default to serve one year in prison with hard labour.

Asked whether he had anything to say to beg the court, he said he had nothing to say.

According to the charge read in court, on 30 May 2014, at Papas Bar and Restaurant in Senegambia, in the Kanifing Municipality, he stole from a motor vehicle the following: one gray and purple colour bag valued at D500, two Christian prayer books valued at D1,000, two hard drives valued at D5,000, DSCR black camera valued at D35,000, one HP laptop valued at D35,000, one memory card 64 giga byte valued at D1,500, two camera lens 50mm black valued at D2,000 and D6,000 respectively, being the property of one Guy Sangaster Loum.
