Man hospitalised after beating by armed robbers in URR

Abiden Kanteh, a Mauritanian national is currently admitted at Basse District Hospital as he was seriously assaulted by armed robber who attached the village of Darsilameh in the Upper River Region (URR), in the wee hours of Tuesday.

The armed robbers, according to our sources in URR were with AK47 rifles. The robbers our sources narrated used cutlass to assault the Mauritanian shopkeeper. He was seriously beaten as he sustained multiple injuries on his head.

“He was assaulted and got wounded two times on his head leaving him bleeding profusely,” our sources added.

Our sources added that none of the robbers was been apprehended. However, police in the regions are finding ways to arrest the robbers. The robbers are believed to go away with huge amount of money belonging to the said Mauritanian businessman. At the time of gathering the report, the victim was still hospitalised at the Basse District Hospital receiving medical treatment.

URR is one of the regions in the country that’s prone to armed robbery attacks. In recent times armed robbers have attacked different places in the region. The last attack was in Demba Kunda village in the Jimara District, in which attackers seriously struck a man and went away with his motorbike with some amount of money.
