Man docked for alleged possession of stolen vehicle

One Dodou Camara, a resident of Brikama was yesterday arraigned before Magistrate A.B. Faal of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on a single count of being in possession of suspected stolen vehicle.

The prosecution, led by Sgt Jammeh alleged that the accused, Dodou Camara, on 31 August 2017, at Brikama Wellingara, was found in possession of a Mercedes Benz taxi, with a registration number BJL 3791 B suspected to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge pressed against him and the prosecuting officer, Sgt Jammeh, sought for an adjournment to enable him secure the presence of witnesses in the case.

Sgt. Jammeh informed the court that the prosecution did not in any way oppose granting bail to the accused.

The trial magistrate, however, granted the accused a bail of D50, 000, with two Gambian sureties, all of whom must deposit their ID cards with the Registrar of the said Court.

 The matter was adjourned until 27 September 2017, for hearing.
