Saho was on the 31st July, 2018, arraigned before Magistrate M.S. Jallow of
the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court and charged with issuing a false cheque
contrary to section 296 (A) of the Criminal Code.
According to the indictment, between the months of April and May, 2018, at Kololi, in the Kanifing Municipality of the Republic of The Gambia, he, without authority or reasonable excuse, issued an Access Bank cheque to one Ali Hamoud for the sum of D51,480 with account number 0050020005066, knowingly or having reason to believe that there was no fund or adequate fund in his account to pay off the said amount specified on the cheque.
However, Sheriff Saho strongly denied the allegation. He was subsequently granted bail in the sum of D25,000 with two Gambian sureties who will swear to an affidavit of means and deposit their ID cards with the registrar of the court. Sergeant 2717 Jallow did not object to the granting of bail to the accused.Prosecutor Sergeant 2717 Jallow, who represented the Inspector General of Police, will make a lineup of his witnesses to prove the allegation.
