Mabou Foundation, in collaboration with Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital recently toured the various units in the hospital to raise the sum of D50million to support the most needed areas in the hospital.

Maabu Foundation for health and environment is geared towards helping the development of The Gambia, especially in the areas of health and environment to ensure that Gambians live healthier and live a better live.

Speaking at a press conference held at the hospital hall, Peter Correa, human resource manager and organising committee member, said Maabu Foundation, in collaboration with EFSTH would organize a fund raising to support the needed areas in the hospital.

He said the program would be unique because they are going to identify the areas that need support, saying that it would not only stop at raising fund but also raise awareness of the situation of the hospital.

Mr Correa further stated that Maabu Foundation would not only stop at that, they are also into so many initiatives to raise enough funds to be able to take care of issues of concern.

Malang Ndong, Director of Administrative and Human Resources, said the hospital is unique in the sense that it’s the only teaching hospital in the country as well as the last referral point be it public or private.

Dr. Phoday Jobe, organizing committee member, said the foundation is out to support EFSTH but fund raising program was not enough to support the hospital.

He called on Gambians and non-Gambians, both home and abroad to support and help save lives.

Maabu Touray, CEO of Maabu Foundation for health and environment, said as a Gambian,he wants to do something for his country but not to wait for the country to do something for him.

Mr Touray stressed that with the initiative, Gambians would be ready to support, adding that the amount they are targeting is small as the hospital needs a lot of money.
