The 2013-2014 late Kajali Badjie and late Ismaila Nyassi Kombo South District’s biggest football champions tourney will reach its quarterfinal this weekend with anticipated thrilling, astonishing and exciting encounters at the Sifoe and Jambanjelly football fields respectively.

As part of the quarterfinal clashes, Kartong will play against Jambanjelly in the first quarterfinal on Saturday 17 May 2014 at the Sifoe Football Field at 4.30pm.

The quarterfinal game is described by many football fans in Kombo and its environs as a crunch clash.

Kartong have finished top spot in group A with 7 points in three games and are also unbeaten since the start of the tournament in March.

They will be hoping for a win against Jambanjelly to progress to the semi-final as well as fancy their chances of reaching the final, after losing to Farato on penalties in the 2008 Kombo South district football tournament final, after the regulation time failed to produce a winner at the Gunjur Upper Basic School Football Field.

Jambanjelly, who lost to Gunjur 2-1 in the 1987 Kombo South district football tournament final played at the Gunjur Upper Basic School Football Field, finished runners-up in group C with 5 points in three games.

They will also be vying for a win against Kartong to seal their semi-final desire after they were eliminated in the quarterfinal stage in 2012 and 2013 Kombo South district football tournament.

Reigning league champions Sifoe will clash with Batokunku in the second quarterfinal on Sunday 18 May 2014, at the Jambanjelly Football Field.

Sifoe topped group C with 5 points in three outings and will be fighting for a victory against Batokunku to sail to the semi-final as well as to keep their chances of retaining their 2013 Kombo South district football tournament crown.

Batokunku snatched runners-up in group A with 4 points in three games and will also be looking for a win against champions Sifoe to book their place in the semi-final.
