Lang Conteh returns to remand

Lang Conteh, a former Kanilai Family Farm general manager Monday reappeared at the Banjul magistrates’ court before principal magistrate Hilary Abeke.

When the case was called, defence counsel LK Mboge told the court the case was set for hearing.

Counsel added that he wanted to renew his earlier application for bail for the accused person, as Conteh was in remand custody since last the adjournment date.

The trial magistrate said the court would hear a civil matter,hear his case, but before Conteh’s case. Counsel responded that he has to go to other courts, and would not be able to come back.

Consequently, the accused person was taken back to remand.

The case was adjourned to 4 August 2014, for continuation of the hearing.

The charge sheet read that Lang Conteh, sometime between 2012 and 2013 in Banjul, stole an amount of D1, 538, 804, 95 being the property of the Kanilai Family Farm, and thereby committed an offence.
