Kuntaur Area Council (KTRAC) recently handed over a cheque for three hundred
thousand dalasi to GAMWORKS as part of their counterpart contribution towards
rural infrastructure subprojects.
Speaking at the ceremony, the chief executive officer Kuntaur Area Council, Pa Nfansu Darboe said his council supposed to pay three million dalasi as part of their counterpart contribution towards the construction of five sub infrastructural projects with GAMWORKS.
He said the projects the council is about to implement are construction of office complex, staff quarters, multipurpose centre at Kaur, and five boreholes within the five districts in CRR north. He commended GAMWORKS for being their development partners in providing services to the communities.
“Our role as council is to mobilise and utilize resources by providing social amenities for the community we serve,” he stated. He pointed out that his council has paid one million two hundred thousand dalasi to GAMWORKS for their priority projects.
The interim chairperson of Kuntaur Area Council, Amat Bah, spoke at length on the significant role the council plays in providing development projects to the communities. He further called on the people to pay their rate and taxes on time to enable the council to implement development projects for their communities.
“Late payment of rates and taxes delay the development projects plan by the council and supposed to be implemented within that particular period,” he noted. He applauded GAMWORKS for their efforts in providing infrastructural development.Mr. Bah highlighted on the importance of the subprojects which include water and multi-purpose centre, saying these are highly needed projects. He pointed out that these magnificent projects will have a great impact on the lives and livelihood of poor farmers, citing that it will also boost and equip the youth in the area with skills and provide safe drinking water for rural people.
