Kombo South Youths Committee registers success District Children's Committee formed

Thursday, July 29, 2010

Every reasonable human being will accept the fact that it goes without saying that the success of every nation relies on the youths it produces. These productive youths, however, cannot be made possible if the children are not well groomed to later become productive youths of the nation.

Being conscious of all these, the gallant sons and daughters of Kombo South after forming a formidable and vibrant youth committee, deemed it fitting and necessary to form a children's committee that will attend to the needs and interest of children in the district and the nation at large.

Speaking on the formation of the Kombo South Children's Committee last Sunday in Jambanjelly, the Chairman of the Kombo District Youth Committee, Mr. Malang Fatty, said "even if we stop at forming the children's committee alone, that would indeed be a success for the committee".

He expressed his delight in the high turnout of the children, adding that it is a clear manifestation of the children's commitment towards addressing and attaining their needs.

For Mr. Fatty, this will help groomed children to become responsible leaders tomorrow, anytime they take up the leadership mantle.

Nfansu Bojang, an executive member of the Kombo South Youth Committee responsible for the co-ordination of the Children's Committee, said it is important to bring children together to know each other, and share experiences, since it is only a child that can have first-hand information from a fellow child.

"It is worth making history in the positive way than making history in a negative way. These gallant sons and daughters, who are leaders in the making, are worthy of being proud of, because they are making history in a positive manner," said Mr. Alieu O. Jabang alias Morinho. Mr. Jabang is the Public Relations Officer of the Kombo South District Youth Committee, and also doubles as the board member representing the youths at Kairasu Federation affiliated to Child Fund.

The youth mouthpiece of the Southern Kombo District said for youths and children to participate in community development works is a recommended portion, even in our religion.

He cited the instance of the formation of Hilfulfudul (Alliance for Charity) in Makkah where, he said, the holy Prophet, then a boy at the age of 15, participated immensely in the success of the association, which worked to ensure the freedom, liberty, peace and stability of people, goods and services in Makkah.

He finally called on the youths and children to stand firm, and work towards the development of the district.

The following children were elected to serve in the first-ever Children?s Committee in the history of Kombo South:

Chairperson: Miss Safiatou Saine of Sanyang village who also doubles as a board member at the Kairasu Federation affiliated to Child Fund.

Mr. Abdoulie Bajo of Gunjur was elected as the 1st Vice President, Mr. Andrew Mendy of Kending Sabel as the 2nd Vice President, Amadou Tijan Dahaba of Nyofelleh as Secretary General, Maimuna Jallow of Kunkujang Gunjur as Assistant Secretary General, Mariama Y. Jammeh of Gunjur as Treasurer, Malick Colley of Sanyang as Auditor, Sally Jammeh of Jambanjelly as P.R.O assisted by Maimuna Dem of Rumba village. Yahya Jatta of Sifoe was elected as Social Secretary assisted by Merrial Gomez of Sandali.
