Municipality Youth Committee (KMYC) recently elected new executive, it was held
at the Kanifing Municipal Council chambers.
Out-going chairperson Babucarr Kebbeh said the committee has been doing tremendous work in the municipality, including peace building. “Good governance through the demonstration of good leadership. We started the transfer of power to the new executive three months before the transition progress,” he said.
In-coming chairperson Lamin B Ceesay said 80% of Gambia’s development are within the municipality, access to basic education and health care.
Musa Bah, deputy Mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council said the youth committees are pivotal arm of the National Youth Council whose role he said, cannot be overemphasized.
“It is open knowledge that our country’s growth, be it social, political or economic can only be achieved if the youth are effectively guided and prepared for the challenges ahead. Youth are not only leaders of tomorrow, but also partners of today.”
