empowerment organisation ‘Catch Them Young’ is set to stage the second edition
of its annual ‘Kids Got Talent’ competition this Saturday at the university of
The Gambia (UTG) Law Faculty in Kanifing. The competition is designed to
provide a unique platform to discover, nurture and unleash the talents of kids.
It is also meant to enhance their skills through guidance and mentorship.
Chief executive officer of Catch Them Young, Omar Ceesay said the initiative recognises the fact that not all children are academically inclined so the need to bring out their hidden talents. He said the competition will feature spelling, poetry, public speaking, singing, and dancing.
Mr. Ceesay said participation of children in the event will encourage them to be financially disciplined by conducting discussions on financial management and opening bank accounts for them with a starting capital.
He said 53 children will participate in the elimination round out of which 20 will be selected to battle in the final round in November. The competition is open for children between the ages of 7 to 15.
According to Mr. Ceesay, the organisation is on the final touches of the event and that it has already identified competent judges and mentors to guide the children throughout the process.
Adama Muloshi and Ousman Fofana, both contestants in the competition expressed delight for being part of this life changing programme. They urged their fellow kids to join such initiatives to expose their God-giving talents.
While expressing optimism that the platform created will eventually empower children, Mr. Ceesay called on the public to attend the event and show support to the participants as they are a critical demography in the country’s development cycle.
