Khadija Foundation, a London-based in NGO through its Gambia chapter over the weekend donated food stuff such as, 300 bags of 50kg sugar and 40-bags of 50kg rice to various needy Muslim communities and schools in The Gambia and the southern Senegal province of Cassamance.

Speaking to journalists after the distribution exercise, the Foundation’s country director and focal person Muhammed F. Jabbi said this is the 5th Annual Iftar presentation the Foundation has been doing through its founder Faisal Sherman and family.

Giving charity during the month of Ramadan, he acknowledged, is part of the Foundation’s first priorities because of the promise in reward one can expect from Allah. “This is why Muslims all over the world wants to spend extra help to the needy and the poor around the world.”

He said this donation came as a result of an application that was written to the trustee and founder of Khadija foundation in London requesting for support especially during this holy month of Ramadan.

He thus appealed to the founder of the Foundation- Faisal Sherman and his partners to give more support to needy Gambians especially during the last ten days of the Holy month of Ramadan, which he said, is a difficult period for some needy Muslims to feed their families.

Beneficiary communities and schools include, needy teachers at Sukuta, Brufut Upper Basic schools, Njanija Kerewan Sotokoi, Kiang Kolior and some communities in Cassamance.
