Janko, the most inspiring goal poacher of the Lamin-base football academy and
club KGH Sports who plies their route in the 3rd Division League of West Coast
Region has returned home with a golden boot after scoring five goals in four
matches in the just concluded three tournaments in Koalack, Senegal.
The competing teams in the U19 tournament were the Kaolack Regional selection, Salif Diaw football academy and KGH Sports from the Gambia.
Saikou scored a goal in his first two matches before netting a hat trick in the final match. His team KGH Sports was crowned the champions at the end of the four days tournament hosted in Kaolack mini stadium, Senegal.
According to KGH Sport’s head of technical and coaching affairs Yahya Manneh said he isn’t surprise with Saikou’s improvement as he sees the lad through his development in football since he was nine. He said Saikou has also been his team’s leading scorer in their 3rd Division club in WCR for the past two years.
His short loan spell at Samger in the 2nd Division has given him another added improvement and experience.
Mr. Manneh said they travelled with three teams to Senegal for the various age group tournaments as U11, U15 and U19. “All the other teams did well as they lost in the finals.”
