energy company in the country recently donated 200 of 50kg bags of rice and 200
of 25kg bags of sugar to communities, needy individuals and private
institutions at a ceremony held at the Fatou Network Office along Kairaba
Karpowership is said to be the only owner, operator and builder of the first powership (floating power plant) fleet in the world and plays active role in medium to long-term investments with more than 2500 employees.
At the handing over ceremony, Fatou Camara, founder of The Fatou Network, said Karpowership is not only doing business in The Gambia, but they are also committed to giving back to the communities. “Karpowership will be engaging in the education sector by providing sponsorship to students and fishing gears to fishermen that are around their ship to improve their profession,” she added.
Karpowership project manager- Yankuba Mamburay said Karpowership’s current fleet of 2.800 MW Power-ship is operating all around the world in seven countries.
“We are very grateful for the opportunity to contribute our quota to the amelioration of power supply in The Gambia and towards the development of the country.No country can develop without electricity,” he added.
Mr. Mamburay said that Karpowership is a socially responsible company committed to the development of communities, saying with their operations in The Gambia, the company will continue to engage in social responsibility projects.
“Today’s gathering is the first of our many social responsibility events which we will be undertaking in The Gambia, saying “As propagated by the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), it is virtuous to share and care especially in the Muslims Holy month of Ramadan.”
Bubacarr Dumbuya from Tallinding and a beneficiary, thanked Karpowership for the gesture, saying if such gestures are many in the communities; the needy would live in a good livelihood.
