Karantaba Health center has received a donation of equipment and medical items worth 100, 000 dalasis from Yonna Forex bureau. The materials included 6 bed sheets, 2 solar panels, 4 batteries, consumables, buckets and 7 packets of bandages. The handing over ceremony was held at Karantaba Health Center in Central River Region.

Yonna Forex Bureau head of finance Momodou Barrow explained that the donation was meant to help the health centre maternal ward, which, he said, does not have enough beds in the labour ward. “We decided to provide some facilities to them to ensure that the people of Sami Karantaba have a better health condition,” he explained.

He said sometimes the nurses at the health centre’s labour ward could not attend to patients due to insufficient materials for treatment.

Head of Sami Karantaba maternity ward Amadou Jang Jallow said the items will be very vital to women as they would help them to recuperate after birth.

Jallow expressed sincere gratitude to the donor, saying the materials will greatly help in the reduction of maternal mortality in the labour ward.
