Jammeh’s strike salvages draw for Gambia against G/Conakry

Striker Adama Jammeh’s 33rd minute spectacular strike salvaged a draw for The Gambia against Guinea Conakry in the 2018 Fox Sports sport sponsored WAFU Zone A football tournament played at the Samuel K.Doe Stadium in Monrovia, Liberia.

The Gambia lost to Guinea Conakry 2-1 on aggregate in the 2017 Africa U-20 Youth Championship Nations qualifiers prior to their Wednesday Sub-regional football championship clash.

The Young Silly National took an early lead before striker Adama Jammeh leveled matters for the Young Scorpions in the 33rd minute of the game from a glancing header to share the spoils.

The Gambia will now play against neighbours Senegal in their second group B match today 27 April at the Samuel K. Doe Stadium at 6pm.

The Young Scorpions need to beat the Young Terranga Lions today to increase their hopes of reaching the semifinal after the 1-1 apiece with Guinea Conakry in their opening group match.

Mali defeated Senegal 2-1 in the other group B fixture while the host nation Liberia lost to Ivory Coast 3-0 in their opening Group A match.

Ivory Coast is leading Group A with the maximum 3 points.

Liberia lies rock bottom with zero point after losing to Ivory Coast 3-0 in the opening group match.

Mali is topping Group B with maximum 3 points after defeating Senegal 1-0 in their opening group match.

Guinea Conakry and The Gambia have 1 point each in Group B following their 1-1 draw in their opening league match.

Senegal is bottom-place in Group B with zero point after losing their opening group match.

The Young Terranga Lions need to beat young Scorpions to improve their hopes of reaching the semifinal after losing their opening group B match.
