Gambian defender, Omar Colley sponsored inter-Kabilo football tournament title
following their stunning 3-0 victory over Freetown and CDC in a well-attended
final played at the Late Sanna Jatta Memorial Football field in Lamin.
The match was graced by Omar Colley himself, Momodou Futty Danso, Musa Barrow alias Printo, president of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) Lamin Kaba Bajo and host of football admirers from Lamin and its surrounding.
Jalokoto and London Kabilo opened the scores through Modou Njie after capitalising on Mo Lamin Konateh’s perfect past to fire home the opener in the 4th minute of the game. Njie scored the second goal in the 22nd minute of the match after outpacing Freetown and CDC defenders to kick the ball into the empty net.
Freetown and CDC reacted for equalizer and could have pulled back one goal from a penalty spot through Yusupha Gibba but his effort was neutralised by goalkeeper Alfusainey Kujabi.
Modou Njie netted the third goal in the 58th minute from a brilliant spot kick to inspire Jalokoto and London to a resounding 3-0 win over Freetown and CDC.
As champions, Jalokoto and London received a giant trophy and a cash prize of D25, 000 while Freetown and CDC pocketed D15, 000, as runners-up and each of the participating kabilo’s were awarded D5,000.00 for participating
Jalokoto and London Kabilo head coach Yusupha Sanyang said he was overwhelmed with the performance of his team and commended Omar Colley for staging the tournament.
Head coach of Freetown and CDC Kabilo, Lamin Kanji also applauded Omar Colley for organising the tournament while Omar Colley himself said the tournament was dedicated to his late sisters Haddy Colley and Ya Ida Sanneh.
