Jabang alkalo, others in court

ASP Ba Ebrima Colley, a police officer, who is also the Alkalo of Jabang village,and three others, Ousman Colley, Mawdo Colley and Ebrima Colley, recently appeared at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court before Principal Magistrate Hilary Abeke, charged with conspiracy to commit a felony, obtaining money by falsepretence and disobedience to lawful order.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused persons in  2014 and 2015, at Jabang village in the Kombo North district of the West Coast Region, conspired to commit a felony.

Count two stated that in the same year and place, by false pretence, they obtained the sum of D100,000 from one Dembo Sanyang, and thereby committed an offence.

Count three read that the accused, ASP Ba Ebrima Colley, in 2015 at Jabang village, being the alkalo of Jabang village was instructed by the Office of the President to return the reserved land to the people of Jabang as a mosque, which he failed to do.

They denied any wrongdoing.

Lawyer Edu Gomez applied for bail on behalf of the accused persons as the offences allegedly committed are bailable.

Police prosecutor S.I Musa Bojang did not object to bail.

At that juncture, all the accused persons were granted bail in the sum of D500,000 with a Gambian surety.

The matter was adjourned to 27 April 2015, for hearing.
