Italian school - Ceres and a charity organisation Marus - Onlus Citta
Metropolitana in Italy in partnership with Comus project in Kalagi have recently
donated technology equipment to Kalagi Senior Secondary school.
The equipment includes, 2-desktop computers, one laptop, one projector, two web cams, a Gamtel Wifi internet connection and a cash amount of eleven thousand dalasi to buy cash power for the school.
The gesture, according to donors, would help improve student performance in terms of education especially in the area of technology.
Coordinator of Comus Italian project, Musa Jobe, who is also teaching at Ceres school, said the link is meant to help schools particularly those in Sub-Saharan Africa the opportunity to share their cultures.
Mr. Jobe indicated that this is the first time they are reaching out to Kalagi School, saying they would continue supporting Gambian schools and communities.
He called on beneficiary students to make the best use of the equipment and to ensure its sustainability.
Receiving the items, Karamo Sanneh, Principal of the school, thanked the donors for the gesture, stating that the availability of internet and IT equipment would help make learning at the school more convenient.
