Islamic Group Ready To Produce 'Garri'

Sama Jawneh, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Kunkujang Mariama Muslim Community for Dawa and Development, has said that his group is set to venture into food production in the country.

Mr. Jawneh recently made these remarks in an interview with this reporter in our office.

According to him, Kunkujang Mariama Muslim Community for Dawa and Development group is in the process of registering legally as a community-based organisation.

Mr. Jawneh further pointed out that the raw materials for 'garri' processing is cassava and it is in this line that Kunkujang Mariama Muslim Community for Dawa and Development decided to embark on production of 'garri'.

Mr. Jawneh further stated that they already have an expert and some equipment, such as cassava grinder and pressing machine, but added that they still need a generator, finance and a workshop in order to implement the project.

Mr. Jawneh also stated that if this project is completed, it can create job opportunities for Gambian youths.
