Omar Mendy, born and brought up in the village of Mbankankam in Lower Niumi District, North Bank Region is a rising Gambian afromanding musician who has started music at the age of 12 years.
In 2008, he recorded his first album Ngaing aprhouncaham, meaning a human being worth more than material. It is contained eight- tracks.
The afromanding musician informed The Point Entertainment and Lifestyle that he is also busy working on a collaboration album with artistes like Tapha artiste and Jaliba Kuyateh.
“I will continue to promote afro-manding music intertionally to continue the work of Gambian music pioneers like Ifang Bodi , I C Gelewarr, and other because I believe their work have to be recognise.”
