Interior minister appointed SG, Fadera redeployed to Foreign Service

The Gambian President Adama Barrow, has yesterday appointed, Ebrima Mballow, the governor of West Coast Region (WCR) as the minister of the Interior. He replaces Habib Drammeh who is now appointed the Secretary General and Head of Civil Servants.

Official sources said that Mballow is now replaced by Bakary Sagna, a retired commission of Gambia Revenue Authority.

Mr. Mballow started his career as security officer in the gendarme between 1987 and 1992 and rose to the rank of a sergeant.

Between 1992 and 2001, he worked for the Bank BICI as branch manager in Serekunda. He went to U.K. for further studies in business – post graduate in Management, diploma in Islamic Banking and Insurance MBA Marketing Management.

He worked in the senior management level of The Gambia Islamic Bank from 2007 to 2017. He became governor of the West Coast Region from March 2017 until his appointment.

Habib Drammeh was appointed minister of the Interior Dec. 4, 2017 until his current appointment as SG, replacing Dawda Fadera who is now redeployed as Gambia’s ambassador to U.S.
