Inter-Banks tournament commences

Central Bank former governor’s annual inter-bank football tournament kick started recently with seven games already played at the QCity football field in Brusubi. The tournament is meant to promote greater cooperation among bankers in the country and has brought together 13 banks in the country contesting for the championship.

Guaranty Trust Bank won the tournament after defeating Access Bank in the 2017 edition.

Central Bank of The Gambia drew 2-2 with the Pan African side Ecobank in the opening of the tournament. Momodou L. Badgie of Central Bank scored a brace for his side, while Dominic Mendy scored for Ecobank.

Trust Bank beat Sky Bank by a lone goal to nil, while Standard Chartered Bank also defeated BSIC by the same score line over the weekend with Momodou Colley scoring the only goal of the match. Guarantee Trust Bank shocked First International Bank 2-0.

Arab Gambia Islamic Bank spanked MEGA Bank 2-0, while the game between Access Bank and FIB went goalless just before Sky Bank and Zenith Bank encounter also ended on the same score line.
