This will be followed by the election itself on 22 January 2015 in Katchang Ward, Kerewan Area Council, according to a press release from the IEC.
“In accordance with Section 23 of the Local Government Act 2002, with respect to Section 19(a) of the same Act, the Independent Electoral Commission will conduct a by-election for the Katchang Ward in the Kerewan Area Council on 22nd January 2015,” stated the press release signed by IEC Chairman Alhaji Mustapha L. Carayol.
It stated further: “Consequently, nomination of candidates will be held on Thursday 8 January 2015 at the IEC Regional Office in Kerewan from 8 am to 4 pm.
“Prospective candidates should contact the Regional Electoral Office at Kerewan to arrange the schedule of receipt of their nomination papers.”
