IEC to conduct another by-election in Bwiam Ward

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has disclosed that it will conduct another by-election to fill the vacant seat of councilor in Bwiam Ward in July this year.

This development is necessitated “following the notification from the Brikama Area Council of the expulsion of the erstwhile Councillor for Bwiam Ward, Mrs Fatou Nyassi Dukureh,” a press release from the IEC has stated.

“This is in accordance with Section 23 of the Local Government Act 2002; with respect to Section 19 of the same Act,” stated the release, signed by IEC Chairman Alhaji Mustapha L. Carayol.
