Minister Ebrima Sillah has revealed at the inauguration of Indian Institute of
Hardware Technology that ICT sector is one of the country’s biggest taxpayer,
saying it has paid over 900 million dalasis through taxation last year alone.
Mr. Sillah stressed the urgent need for Gambians, particularly the youth to take ownership of the country’s ICT sector, saying, “We are now in a digital world.”
Situated along Kairaba Avenue, The Indian Institute of Hardware Technology (IIHT) Gambia Limited is an organisation operating in more than 100 cities across India and 23 countries in Europe, Africa and Asia.
According to Mr. Sillah, there is no country that can develop meaningfully without the ICT sector, saying that considering the important role ICT plays, there is need for the youth to be more innovative and creative to drive poverty out of the country. “ICT sector is one of the fastest growing sectors in The Gambia and one of the biggest taxpayer.”
