Husband In Court For Threatening To Kill Wife

One Sarjo Darboe of Farato Village was recently arraigned before Magistrate Fred Forster of the Brikama Magistrates' Court for threatening violence, contrary to the Laws of The Gambia.

According to the particulars of offence, "the accused Saja Darboe on 27th August 2009, at Farato Village, Kombo North Western Region, with intent to intimidate and annoy one Binta Ceesay, the wife with a cutlass by threatening to kill her".

When the charge was read to him and interpreted to him in the language he claimed to understand, he pleaded not guilty.

He was granted court bail in the sum of D15, 000, with one Gambian surety.

Hearing continues.
