Health and Social Welfare Minister Dr. Isatou Touray during her recent nationwide
tour to health facilities commended the Ghanaian ECOMIG Commander in The Gambia
Lieutenant-Colonel Henry K. Badasu for their support towards strengthening the
country’s health delivery system particularly Essau District Hospital and its
environs in the North Bank Region.
Dr. Touray expressed appreciation about the selfless job Doctor Nana Agyiri has been rendering to Gambian communities since his arrival in country and congratulated him for his hard work, good conduct and the professionalism he always demonstrates towards the patients.
She pointed out that the ECOMIG troops based in Barra are doing a great service in Essau, which is executed by a good and hardworking doctor Nana Agyiri. She encouraged ECOMIG to keep the momentum and continue to help the country medically for service to man is service to God.
Tahi Jeng, a native of Barra stated that since Dr. Nana Agyiri’s arrival in February 2018, he has performed many minor surgeries and made critical surgical interventions to save many lives in and around the community.
Muhtarr Jeng, National Assembly Member for Lower Niumi Constituency said referral cases from Essau to Banjul has drastically reduced since Dr. Nana’s arrival, noting that his immediate and prompt interventions in numerous road traffic accidents has saved many lives and reduced the number of referrals to Banjul.
Fatou Sarr, also a native of Niumi Lamin said Dr. Nana sees and admits all patients with cold or medical conditions that come to the facility that needs specialist’s consultation.
Babou Nying said the ECOMIG doctor and his commander are doing a good work at Essau district hospital; they provide free water to patients and staff of the hospital. They also provide free medication to the patients when the need arises.
Baboucarr Loum thanked the ECOMIG doctor and his team in Barra, saying Dr. Nana is closely working with the facility staff.
