Wrestling Association (GWA) is at the advanced stage of preparation for the
national wrestling championship slated for next month, Modou Faye (Cham),
president of The Gambia Association said.
The national championship is slated from 23-24th June, at the Serrekunda East Moni-Stadium.
The wrestling association president said 5 wrestlers representing each of the seven regions will be participating in the much anticipated championship.
He commended the Ministry of Sports for the financial support to the event, while calling for more support from public and private companies.
Dubbed, “Presidential Flag”, Cham said his executive is working very hard to promote and develop wrestling, a traditional sport.
Wrestling is arguably one of the most watched local sporting competitions and what the current executive needs is support from the general public.
