Gunjur Utd pips Red Hawks to keep league promotion ambitions alive

Gunjur United have defeated Red Hawks 1-0 in the week-thirteen fixture played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Friday to keep their domestic division one promotion ambitions alive.

The Gunjur-based football club lost to Kexx United 3-1 in their previous fixture before their fought-back wins over Young Red Devils to maintain their hopes of gaining promotion to the first division.

The Young Red Devils defeated BK Milan 1-0 prior to their slender defeat to Gunjur United in their Friday fixture.

Gunjur United clinched the vital three points after notching a single goal through midfielder Sanna Jallow alias Pattern in the game to fancy their first division promotion hopes alive. Gunjur United has 15 points in thirteen league matches whilst Red Hawks has 16 points in thirteen league matches.

Wallidan thumped Waa Banjul 2-0 in the other week-thirteen fixture played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau to keep alive their hopes of returning to the first division next season. Wallidan now has 24 points after thirteen league matches and Waa Banjul has 12 points in thirteen league matches.
