Monday, June 10, 2019

Gunjur United Saturday defeated Immigration 3-1 in week twenty-eight fixture of the 2018-2019 Gambia Football Federation (GFF) second division league, played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.

The Gunjur-based club slipped to Jambanjelly United and Latrikunda  United before locking horns with the Immigration, who they defeated 1-0 in the first round of the league campaign.

They were zealous for victory to increase their chances of gaining promotion to the country’s premier tier next season after losing their previous league matches.

Gunjur United opened the scores through 2016 super Nawettan best player Salifu Bojang alias Bapa in the first half before Bakary Touray alias Nfabou and Bubacarr Demba alias Ozil scored the second and third goal in the second half.

Immigration reacted quickly for an equaliser and managed to pull back one, which eventually proved to be a consolation goal for them. The win earned Gunjur United 45 points after twenty-eight league outings and Immigration 39 points in twenty-eight league matches.
