Gunjur knock-out finals end in stalemate

The 2014-2015 Gunjur knock-out finals between Solifo Investment FC and Farms Engineering FC ended in a stalemate, after a 1-all draw in a well-attended game played at the Gunjur Nyamina football field on Saturday.

The game saw an excellent exhibition of skills and panache, attracted a multitude of spectators from Gunjur and environs for the weekend clash between two giants in the Gunjur nawetan, but the first half failed to produce a goal.

Farms Engineering FC, hailing from neigbouring Kartong village, opened the scores through Kemo Suwaneh a few minutes after the interval, after capitalizing on the Solifo Investment FC goalkeeper’s error to give his side the lead.

Solifo Investment FC responded for an equalizer and mounted heavy pressured on the Farms Engineering FC defence line, creating numerous goal-scoring opportunities.

Substitute Sheriffo Jatta aka Kiko grabbed the equalizer for Solifo Investment FC in stoppage time to share the spoils after missing several goal-scoring opportunities in the game.

The finals was witnessed by the Secretary General Gambia Football Federation Abass Bah, Gamtel head coach Tapha Manneh and other dignitaries.

A date for the rescheduled finals will be announced later by the Gunjur Sports Committee.
