serving Guaranty Trust Bank (Gambia) for 13 years, the ‘Orange Family” formally
bade farewell to their outgoing Managing Director, Bolaji Ayodele, at a
ceremony held at the Coco Ocean hotel on Thursday.
“During my 13 years stint, I have worked with some of the finest and highly professional bankers in the industry. I have also crossed paths with very well-meaning customers together with whom we have not only moved this Bank forward but we have also developed their businesses, contributed to national development and created employment for a significant number of young Gambians,” he told the staff members, customers and well-wishers at the send-off dinner.
The outgoing MD took the opportunity to also introduce his successor, Mr. Augustine Adesina Adebesin – a career banker with over 30 years’ experience in the banking sector. “Mr. Adebesin is more than able to get the best out of the great management team and staff of GTBank Gambia, to continue to deliver unrivalled customer service to our teaming clientele,” he said.
The executive Director of the Bank, Isatou Jawara said the person being sent off meant a lot to staff of GTBank as he had touched so many lives in a good way. “This has made this inevitable separation a difficult one,” she said, explaining it was why she was nervous and somehow emotional.
“Mr. Bolaji has been more than a leader to all of us; a genuine colleague who allowed himself to reasonably understand The Gambian business environment and culture, and related with both staff and customers even on the corridors of the Bank and the streets. He was a brother and a mentor and a champion of corporate social responsibility as evidenced by the numerous interventions by the Bank during his tenure,” Mrs. Jawara said.
Parting gifts were presented to Mr. Bolaji, accompanied by his wife and kids; and speeches made praising his efforts and legacy at GTBank.
