Revenue Authority’s Human Resource Manager Dr. Seedy Drammeh has authored
another book which features his perspective on New Gambia; looking into the
country’s first democratic transition of power. This is the 29th book that Dr.
Drammeh authored and published.
He told The Point’s Abdoulie Nyokeh that the 310 page book is divided into four interesting sections, drawing from the history of the Coalition 2016 party that won the country’s last Presidential election; exploring the political impasse and post-election peace in The Gambia and critically examines the first 100 days of the Coalition government. The book also discusses public expectations and gives strategic recommendations for re-building The Gambia.
According to Dr. Drammeh, the book made a thorough examination of the political proceedings and developments of the Coalition Government. “This book is a painstaking piece of research and an invaluable reference material for scholars, policymakers, students and development partners that are interested in contemporary Gambian affairs.”
He said he wrote for posterity because it can help present and future generations to know what had happened in Gambia’s first democratic transition of power.
Dr. Drammeh went further to say the book gives detailed information about events that occurred in the Gambian political cycle from 2016 to date, including accomplishments recorded at Ministries and Social structures. It contains chapters and parts such as: the need for patience with the coalition government, Freedom of speech and movement, Developments registered at Ministries and Social Structures, Profiles and Campaign of the Coalition, Relationship with the international community, Comparison of Dictatorship with Democracy, Promotion of justice and fair trial and Reconciliation etc.
According to Dr. Drammeh the quality printing was done in Oxford. I was only able to print 100 copies of the book due to limited financial resources. Copies of the book are available at Timbookutu in Bakau.
