Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) collects 960 million monthly on average in 2019.
It also generates 3.32 billion yearly since 2007. This was disclosed during the official launching of the Network of Financial and Tax Reporters, The Gambia Chapter, held over the weekend at Nana Conference Hall.
The head of GRA’s Corporate Affairs & Public Relations Unit, Ousman Bah, said GRA was established by an Act of Parliament in 2004 for the purpose of collecting Revenue for the government.
He said GRA is established but they can only play a little, without the collaboration with other critical institutions like the media who are the link between the institution, the society and the government itself, saying GRA has a responsibility to share information with the public.
Abdoulie Nyockeh, the president of network, said the implementation of this network is for the media to play an effective and efficient role to educate and sensitise the messes on the tax laws.
