Point and Standard Newspapers will today battle for the final of The Gambia Press
Union (GPU) and Sports Journalists of The Gambia (SJAG) joint inter-media
football tournament to be played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, at 5pm.
Both teams made remarkable performance since the start of the tournament to earn them places in the final of the media tournament.
The Point beat The Voice 3-0, The Standard 5-1 and draw with Paradise Media 2-2 during their group stage encounters as they qualify to the semifinal with 7 point and ten goals while The Standard made it through to the semifinal after grapping 6 points in three matches by beaten both Paradise Media 1-0 and The Voice.
The Point made it to the final after thumping Foroyaa Newspaper by 4-0 in the semifinal. Assan Ndoye, Essa Fadera, Biram Gaye and Edrissa Jallow scored for The Point while, Standard Newspaper defeated the Gambia Radio and Television Services (GRTS) by 4-3 on post-match penalty shootout after a barring goalless draw in the regulation time.
The Point Newspaper team, who are yet to test a defeat in the tournament will be looking forward to continue their hundred percent record in the tournament, while The Standard Newspaper will come to avenge their 5-1 thumping score line by the Point Newspaper.
