GPA stretch Wallidan to keep pace in GFF 1st domestic league

Gambia Ports Authority on Sunday beat Wallidan 2-1 in the week-sixteen fixtures played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium to maintain pace in the 2015-2016 Gambia Football Federation’s domestic division league title.

The ferry boys are leading the table and Wallidan are two places from safety prior to their week-sixteen fixtures.

Both sides made an excellent performance to the game and caused serious assaults at each other’s goalmouth, and the ferry boys grab the vital three points after notching in two goals, Wallidan managed to score one goal which eventually proved to be a consolation for them.

The defeat has put Wallidan one place above relegation zone.

Brikama United hammered Samger 5-1 at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium to mount pressure on league leaders Gambia Ports Authority.

Hawks drew 1-1 with defending league champions Gamtel at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium.

Bombada beat relegation zone threatened Serrekunda United 2-1 at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium to climb to two places above relegation zone.

Mustapha Njie and Mustapha Drammeh were on the score sheet for Bombada.

Serrekunda United’s consolation goal was netted by striker Kebba Sambou.

Real De Banjul defeated Gambia Armed Forces 1-0 at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium to maintain their hopes of winning the league title.

Elsewhere, Banjul United came from one nil down to draw 1-1 with Bakau giant killers Steve Biko at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.

Gambia Ports Authority are leading the league with 33 points in sixteen league matches and Brikama United are second with 29 points in sixteen league matches.

Real De Banjul are third with 25 points in sixteen league matches, Hawks and Gamtel are fourth and fifth with 23 points each in sixteen league matches.

Gambia Armed Forces and Steve Biko are sixth and seventh with 19 points each in sixteen league matches.

Samger are eighth with 18 points in sixteen league matches, Bombada are ninth with 17 points in sixteen league matches.

Wallidan are tenth with 15 points in sixteen league matches, Banjul United are second place from bottom with 13 points in sixteen league matches and Serrekunda United are rock bottom with 12 points in sixteen league matches.
