GPA slap Bombada to succeed Samger on top in GFF 1st Division

Gambia Ports Authority on Saturday beat Bombada 1-0 in the week-six fixtures played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium to succeed Samger on top in the 2015-2016 First-Eco Partners-sponsored Gambia Football Federation domestic division one league.

The ferryboys were occupying second spot prior to their Sunday clash with the Brikama-based outfit and were able to snatch some maximum points after netting a single, to succeed Samger on top in the league, who were held to a 1-1 draw by relegation threatened Serrekunda United at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

The Brikama-based outfit are sitting second place from bottom in the league prior to their Sunday’s crunch clash with the ferry boys, but were reluctant to bag the vital three points.

Wallidan beat Gambia Armed Forces on the same score-line at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium to climb to third place in the league.

Saikou Camara was on target for the blue boys in the 34th minute of the game.

Elsewhere, Bakau giant killers Steve Biko defeated Real De Banjul at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium on the same day to bounce back in contention for the league title.

Centre-back Modou Jallow aka Fedo scored the winner for Bakau giant killers in the second half.

Gambia Ports Authority have now taken the lead with 12 points in six league games.

Samger have dropped to second spot after their 1-1 draw with Serrekunda United with 10 points in six league matches, and Wallidan are third in the league with 10 points in six league matches.

Gambia Armed Forces are fourth in the league with 9 points in six league matches. Gamtel, Brikama United and Steve Biko are fifth, sixth and seventh in the league with 8 points each in six league games.

Banjul United and Real De Banjul are eighth and ninth in the league with 6 points each in six league matches, while Hawks are tenth in the league with 5 points in six league games.

Bombada are rooted second place in the league with 4 points in six league matches, while Serrekunda United are languishing at the bottom in the league with only 3 points in six league matches.
